The initial analytic step consisted of estimating the (year) incidence rates from 2001 to 2002 by which the annual incidence with the lowest incidence rates at each center was converted to a measure of lung cancer risk factors. The potential associations between lung cancer risk factors and lung cancer were then tested using Pearson’s product moment test. The predictive accuracy of the models was tested using cross-sectional Cox regression, as recommended in both the A AAP Report and the SEER databases.
