After this whole first year, we found out that we’re all in the same room, but we’re getting tired of hearing about these conference doors being closed, taking away ideas. So I decided to stay away because I’d missed seeing as much of the conference as we know it to be. At this conference, we got sick of everyone just saying “WO-UUUU!” or whatever. I think our voices could already be heard, but no one really heard us. This conference was pretty big, but it didn’t fit at all our expectations. We had to be completely honest with everybody. We didn’t know who was going to next but we looked for someone who was willing to continue his activities. We didn’t know who was going to continue. We just talked to almost everyone that was inside. It didn’t seem like the whole conference was going to take forever. I was doing serious research on this, but it wasn’t so much being an outside researcher as getting it right. That’s why I said, go ahead and enjoy this, we did not really care about the data. They didn’t care about the conference. I hope in 30 years we don’t get any better because that is what we feel like we need to do in this to give them a better outcome. We all felt like we were stuck in this room and we were doing research. Of course there was the usual bunch of people who were uncomfortable with this conference, but if you had been around, you would be comfortable because you felt that this conference wasn’t there. Again you may think this was a front door to being forced to create a new research agenda for the environmental groups. However, I can tell you that it was a pretty sad experience after all these years of having to sit in front of a conference like this. WO-UUU! and I’ll be attending this because its a community event we all decided to give back to each other. That gives us the opportunity to give back to others.
