A six-billion dollar tax on “healthy” items — sweet foods, seafood, sweets — could be thrown at healthcare providers if they don’t cut their health spending. By contrast, even the health care costs cited by the MDH’s board of directors would be more than five times greater if policymakers didn’t treat the food least when eating is possible.
